How to play the snake
Permalink Closed

I also got this on pbreview. The same person posted it as the how to practice thread. Thought it might be helpfull.

The snake is probably the hardest bunker to play on the field. You are blind, in the dirt or if youre lucky on your knees, you can't talk well, and can't see what is around the next knuckle. But if you play it right it is the most powerful bunker on the field. The snake gives a player the ability to move across almost the whole field mostly protected and sometimes without even being noticed. When you finally do come out you have an angle on almost every other player.

Before the game: Walk the snake (both sides, because fields arent always mirrored right and have different angles). Get down and dirty. Dont just stand up and say yea thats a nice shot actually get down there and see if you can pull it off in a game. Also look for blind shots (no not sticking your gun out and shooting the ref, look to see if you can shoot over a bunker that blocks your view, but you know theres a bunker on the other side and you can hit the guy in it). While walking also look for the SNAKE KILLER bunker, its usually cross field and has a perfect shot on anyone trying to get into snake.

Off the break: If your going to snake have a teammate lane the guy going to the Snake Killer bunker to get him out, or stop him from laning at you. Once breakout starts you have many options on how to get to snake. One thing is, you never want to run in a straight line from start box to snake. Arch out towards snake side a little; this makes you a harder target.

Options on getting to the snake: sprint all the way: delay/lane then sprint, run and gun to primary bunker then bump into snake, and run and gun to snake. Running and gunning to snake clean wont happen on most fields, but if by some chance the field lets you, Do It.
I personally prefer as many guns up as possible at all times, so usually when I breakout I lane while jogging towards snake side, then sprint in and superman in. when you sprint to look up the field and see where your opponents are going so once your in snake you can start shooting. Only put your hand in front of your face if theres a lane right at you. Dive about 6-12ft before snake, depending on kind of ground.

Once in the snake: move up to first knuckle. Head check the tape side, then post on it if clear to maybe shootout the other teams possible snake guy. Listen for your teammates to tell you where they are. Once you know no ones in snake or your back guys got tape then check to see if any paints flying over your bunker, if not head check cross field shots. If someone shoots at you, dont popup in the same place. And when you come up this time shoot about 8balls at him then post. (you dont really want to get in a snap shooting battle from snake so if someones posted up on you, ask a teammate to throw some paint at him). If you are in the snake and dont have any cross field angles on there players you have 2 choices be aggressive and move to next knuckle and find angles on people or play sneaky post up, and catch them when they move up. If aggressive, head check tape side then move up, and repeat. And at all times keep up good communication with your back players.
